$5.64 Million Verdict for a 15-Year-Old Girl Hit by Commercial Truck

An Imperial County jury awarded a $5.64 million verdict to a young woman who was seriously injured when the family van she was riding in was hit by a commercial truck. She was 15 years old at the time of the accident.

The commercial truck ran a stop sign and hit the family's mini-van, causing it to roll repeatedly. The commercial truck collided with the mini van, piercing it, and stricking the young girl in the face. The young woman suffered catastrophic injuries, includig facial avulsion degloving, and several fractures to her face and skull.

According to reports, the trial lasted approximately one month, and the jury deliberated for two days.
